These actions left an indelible mark on the socio-political development of modern Middle Eastern countries. This book examines the political language infusion of anti-Semitism, nationalism, fascism and Marxism that were among the ideological by-products of Axis and Allied intervention in the Arab world. The status of the British-dominated Middle East was tailor-made for exploitation by Axis intelligence and propaganda. The efforts of German and Italian intelligence fueled anti-British resentment; his influence shaped the course of Arab nationalist sentiments throughout the Middle East. A relevant parallel to the pan-Arab cause was Hitler's attempt to bring ethnic Germans into the fold of a larger German state. Just as the Sudeten Germans were theoretically equal to the Carpathian Germans, so the Yemenis were, according to doctrinal theory, united with the Syrians in the mind of those who advocated pan-Arabism. As historical evidence shows, precisely this similarity turned out to be an important factor in the development of relations between Arab and fascist leaders. The Arab nationalist movement was nothing more than an amorphous and fragmented counter-position to British imperialism, which was imported into the Arab East via Berlin for Nazi aspirations.
